Classroom Management

Class Dojo is a tool that I have absolutely loved to see grow over this past year. This free classroom management tool can be utilized for behavior management, parent communication, and simply a way to build a happy and healthy classroom! Teachers, parents, students and administrators (a new feature this year) can sign up for a free account via classdojo.com. Class Dojo can also be accessed via smart phone app. The teacher can create a class of their students and Dojo will assign each student their own avatar- these avatars are adorable, colorful monsters that are able to be customized by students. Students can earn points for their behavior in the classroom, which is instantly communicated to parents. There is also a ‘Class Story’ feature, which allows the teacher to send out photos or updates from the class throughout the day. Check out why other teachers LOVE Class Dojo!

Remind  is a free messaging tool that allows students, parents, and teachers to communicate easily both inside and outside of the classroom. Teachers can sign up for an account on their website and from there have the ability to create either one or multiple ‘classes,’ which is how Remind allows you to group your participants. Remind is excellent for sending out classroom updates, reminders, or daily homework. The tool gives its users options as far as use- teachers can send messages via the smart phone app or website; parents & students can receive messages via text message, email, or smart phone app. A chat feature was also added this year, which can be great for fast and easy communication. Check out their website to learn even more ways to use Remind in your classroom!
